Analytics 📊

In mid-December we enabled a self-hosted instance of Umami so that we can start to build-up some privacy-preserving analytics in our Web App. This will help inform decisions we make on UX and feature priority and give us a better insight into the global distribution of our users.

All of this data is of course free and open-source and so check it out the btcmap.org analytics here!

Not bad at all and probably puts us among the most visited bitcoin websites. We’d love to hear from others re user numbers to get a relative feel.

Web App 🕸️

With around 50 PRs for the month, there is still no stopping Hannes as he continues to improve the Web App one line of code at a time. Notable changes this month:

  • Refactored Tagger Leaderboard by Nathan now gives multiple time periods and uses a searchable & sortable TanStack Table, bringing the UX inline with other areas of the app.
  • Even moar performance improvements and caching fixes by Hannes.
  • Moar structural refactoring by Trigger
  • Improved search and category filtering by Hannes.
  • Better swipe controls on mobile by Hannes.
  • Better visibility for Boosted Merchants on main map view (excluded from pin clustering) by Hannes.
  • Better a11y accessibility with aria-label attributes for buttons and links by Hannes.
  • Svelte v5 migration prep by Hannes.
  • Updated map nav icons and additional map tile styles, including the new dark mode default Carto Dark Matter by Hannes.
